FLUORINATED
COATINGS
FLUOROPOLYMER-FREE
COATINGS

Non-stick coatings for the food industry are essential in industrial food processing, providing an array of valuable properties.

  • Non-stick surface: facilitating easy release of cooked items and ensuring consistent quality when cooking regularly-shaped items.
  • Reduction or elimination of fats and eelease oils: promoting healthier production practices by reducing or eliminating the need for fats and release oils.
  • Corrosion Resistance: ensuring extended lifespan and resilience against corrosion.
  • Easy release of cooked items: ensuring even cooking and facilitating easy removal of the cooked item.
  • Resistance to extreme cooking temperatures: few coatings offers exceptional resistance, above 300 degrees Celsius.
  • Low coefficient of friction: minimising friction, increasing the efficiency and performance of treated surfaces.
SCS Italia: what sets us apart

Provide technical – functional quality coatings through a group of companies specialized in the field of food coatings.

FOOD INDUSTRY
EXAMPLES OF APPLICATION

Our coatings comply with the health regulations established by the control bodies of the major countries of the world. We can provide MOCA certified coatings to meet food contact regulations.

BAKERY INDUSTRY

The coating applied to baking trays for bread, pizza, and pastry (brioche trays and colombacake mould), as well as moulds for bread-in-loaf, pan bauletto, and grissini trays, can indeed enhance baking standards and offer some advantages over uncoated or elastomer/silicone treated trays and moulds.

DIARY INDUSTRY

The non-stick coating applied to molding and stretching machines for mozzarella cheese production, as well as to cutting blades, prevent crust buildup and equipment heating during processing, thus significantly reducing cleaning costs.

INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY

The coating is applied to various cooking surfaces such as crepe makers, pancake griddles, moulds, metal cooking grids, as well as to industrial machines in contact with food, such as hoppers, stars, rounding machines to benefit from its non-stick properties when working with raw dough.

SOME OF OUR COATINGS
QUASAR
FEP
FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene copolymer) non-stick coatings melt and flow during baking to provide non-porous films. These coatings offer excellent chemical resistance. In addition to being low friction, FEP coatings demonstrate excellent non-stick properties. The maximum use temperature is typically 205°C/400°F. FEP coatings are available in both water-based liquid and powder forms.
QUASAR
PTFE
PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) non-stick coatings are two-coat systems (primer/topcoat). These products have the highest
operating temperature of any fluoropolymer (290°C/550°F), an extremely low coefficient of friction, good resistance to abrasion and chemicals.
PTFE is available only in waterbased liquid form.
QUASAR
ETFE
ETFE is a co-polymer of ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene. Although not fully fluorinated ETFE coating has excellent
chemical resistance and can operate continuously at 150°C/300°F. This resin is the toughest of the fluoropolymers and can be built up to 1000 microns (40 mils) to provide a tough finish. ETFE is available in powder form.
QUASAR
PFA
The PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy) non-stick coating melts and flows during baking to create non-porous films. PFA also offers significant advantages: a higher continuous use temperature (260°C/500°F), a film thickness up to 1,000 microns (40 mils), and greater hardness than that of PTFE or FEP. This combination of properties makes PFA an excellent choice for a wide variety of applications, especially those requiring chemical resistance. PFA is available
in both water-based liquid and powder forms.
QUASAR
S
These innovative coatings based on elastomers and silicone resins are ideal not only for large industrial baking lines but also for small ovens. Their extremely high non-stick properties and excellent grip (unlike fluorinated products), allow for a significant reduction in additional release agents such as fats and oils. They uniformly transfer heat during baking, resulting in evenly cooked crusts. To maintain the dimensions and shapes of aluminum artifacts (which are prone to deformation), these coatings require low-temperature sintering.
