FLUORINATED
COATINGS
FLUOROPOLYMER-FREE
COATINGS
Fluorinated coatings are essential for professional and widley used in many industries due to their unique properties.
- Excellent chemical resistance: providing reliable protection against the effects of aggressive chemical substances.
- High-temperature resistance: maintaining their properties even under extreme thermal conditions, spanning from a chilly -270°C/-454°F to a scorching +290°C/+550°F.
- Low permeability: helping to maintain the integrity of treated surfaces.
- High corrosion resistance: protecting against corrosion, especially when exposed to aggressive chemical environments.
- Thermal insulation: reducing the temperature gradient, often preventing the formation of condensation and the expansion of absorbed fluids. Additionally, they limit the rate and extent of temperature changes, minimizing bubble formation.
While absorption typically receives primary attention, as it best reflects the functional validity of industrial fluorinated coatings, chemical resistance and anticorrosion aren’t the sole pertinent properties in industrial applications. Non-stickiness, low coefficient of friction, and non-wettability also underscore the effectiveness of industrial fluorinated coatings.
scs italia: How we are different
Provide technical – functional quality coatings through a group of companies specialized in the field of industrial coatings.
FEP
FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene copolymer) non-stick coatings melt and flow during baking to provide non-porous films. These coatings offer excellent chemical resistance. In addition to being low friction, FEP coatings demonstrate excellent non-stick properties. The maximum use temperature is typically 205°C/400°F. FEP coatings are available in both water-based liquid and powder forms.
PTFE
PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) non-stick coatings are two-coat systems (primer/topcoat). These products have the highest
operating temperature of any fluoropolymer (290°C/550°F), an extremely low coefficient of friction, good resistance to abrasion and chemicals.
PTFE is available only in waterbased liquid form.
ETFE
ETFE is a co-polymer of ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene. Although not fully fluorinated ETFE coating has excellent
chemical resistance and can operate continuously at 150°C/300°F. This resin is the toughest of the fluoropolymers and can be built up to 1000 microns (40 mils) to provide a tough finish. ETFE is available in powder form.
PFA
The PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy) non-stick coating melts and flows during baking to create non-porous films. PFA also offers significant advantages: a higher continuous use temperature (260°C/500°F), a film thickness up to 1,000 microns (40 mils), and greater hardness than that of PTFE or FEP. This combination of properties makes PFA an excellent choice for a wide variety of applications, especially those requiring chemical resistance. PFA is available in both water-based liquid and powder forms.
ECTFE
The ECTFE (ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene) nonstick coatings are particularly indeal for applications demanding maximum chemical resistance, even at elevated operating temperatures. Due to its low roughness, the finish is relatively smooth with good anti-adherent properties. This coating can withstand temperatures up to 150°C and is considered a product of high purity, exhibiting high resistance to abrasion
and can be applied with a layer thickness of up to 1 mm.
